Makalu to Khumbu Icefall Trek is a monthly-package targeted for adventure lovers. The trekking trail passes through the Makalu region and descends down through the Khumbu region to Lukla Airport. You will explore exciting and lifetime memorable time during the trek and observe the world’s fifth highest mountain Mt. Makalu (8481m) nearby your eye. The major highlights of the adventure are Arun River valley, Barun river valley, Makalu Base Camp, Sherpani Pass, Baruntse Base Camp, West Col, Hilary Base Camp, High Camp, holy five lakes called Panch Pokhari, Khumbu valley and many exciting spots. This trek will be truly adventurous expedition in your lifetime.

This fly in fly out Makalu Base Camp Khumbu Trek starts with a Kathmandu – Tumlingtar flight. Then the trail goes to lowlands near Arun River and Barun River valley before arriving to Makalu Base Camp. Crossing Sherpani Pass to Baruntse Base Camp upto Ampha Lapcha will be challenging one. Prior trekking experience will be very beneficial for this trek. You will descend down through the Khumbu region to Lukla where you will catch up morning flight to Kathmandu and end the Makalu Khumbu Trek.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu International Airport (TIA), transfer to hotel.

Day 02: Full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu city and prepare for Makalu trek.

Day 03: Morning flight from Kathmandu – Tumlingtar, trek to Khadbari (1,040m) 4hrs. Overnight camp

Day 04: Trek from Khadbari to Chichila (1,830m) 5/6hrs. Overnight at camp.

Day 05: Trek from Chichila to NUM (1,490m) 5/6hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 06: Trek from Num to Sedua (1,460m) 5/6hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 07: Trek from Sedua to Tashi Gaon (2,070m) 6hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 08: Trek from Tashi Gaon to Kauma (3,470m) 5hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 09: Rest day for acclimatization . Overnight camp.

Day 10: Trek from Kauma to Mumbuk (3,570m) 5 hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 11: Trek from Mumbuk to Nhe Kharka (3,000m) 5/6hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 12: Trek from Nhe Kharka to Sherson (4,615m) 6/7hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 13: Trek from Sherson to Makalu Base Camp (5,000m) 5hrs. Overnight camp.

Day 14: Explore the Makalu Base Camp. Overnight camp.

Day 27: Early in the morning fly from Lukla - Kathmandu. Hotel Overnight.

Day 28: Final Departure.

Trekking Group Size

Trekking Group is termed for the group of people with every individuals who go for a trip. A minimum of 2 people and maximum number of 12 is highly recommended as the size of the group. This planning ensures complete safety of the trekkers and convenience as well. However, with conditions applied, the group size can be customized as per the request of our clients.

[Note: Crew members are not counted within the trekking group size. This exclusive group of crews include one leader, assistant leaders and porters. One assistant leader for every 4 trekkers and one porter for every 2 trekkers]

Meals and Accommodation

During your stay in Kathmandu city, at the initial and the final stages of the trip, you will be residing at a 4 star hotel. The meal facilities in our Cost Includessection takes account of only breakfast facilities at this particular hotel. During the trek, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served including varieties of snacks, cold drinks, and hot chocolate especially during the mountain part.

As mentioned above, accommodation will be facilitated at a 4 star hotel in Kathmandu. Whereas, during the trek, you will be staying at standard teahouses, lodges and camps, on twin sharing basis, that is determined by the viability of accommodation facilities at overnight stops.

Qualification

As a general idea, health condition in a good state is highly recommended for any kind of tour. As, Makalu Khumbu Icefall Trek is categorized under Moderate Level, one should have the ability to walk for at least 5 – 6 hours a day, and 8 – 9 hours in some of the days. The highest altitude that we climb in this particular trek is 5,000m/16,404ft. Trekking in higher altitudes requires more physical effort. If you have any kind of medical condition, we urge you to receive a counsel from medical experts and formally inform us before applying for this trip.
