Langtang Region

Langtang is the third most popular trekking region in Nepal. That lies in the northeast of Kathmandu. Trekking to this region offers the opportunity to explore Tamang villages. The scenery here is spectacular, and the trek more adventurous as the area is visited by fewer tourists.

Langtang Region, third most popular trekking region in Nepal lies north of Kathmandu which offers the opportunity to explore high Himalayas, Himalayan glaciers and Tamang villages enrich with Buddhist culture.

The Langtang valley, Gosainkunda, helambu and Ganesh Himal that lies west of Langtang are the primary attraction of Langtang Region. Though few people visits this area, but the scenery here is spectacular, and the trek is much more adventurous. The trekking duration in Langtang region requires minimum of 7 days to maximum 21 days. Langtang Region was designated with Nepal's first Himalayan National Park in 1971 called Langtang National Park. Langtang Region is mostly inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa whose culture and religious practices has its own significance. The National Park is fully covered by forest with modrate temperate and sub-alpine vegetation which consists of varieties of wildlife like migratory birds, deer, monkey, Tahr, Pika and many others. Except Ganesh himal and Ganja la area almost all the trekking routes are well served with teahouses so that independent trekking can also be done.

The Langtang National Park is protecting all heritages of Langtang Region thus offers the wilderness environment rich in flora and fauna. Yala, Langtang Lirung, Dorje lakpa, Jugal, Naya Kanga are some of the popular trekking peaks in Nepal. Accessing Langtang Region is much easier than other trekking Region as the starting point lies very near to Kathmandu. The Langtang Region can be accessed through Sundarijal, Budhanikantha, Kanaki and Melamchi pul at about four hours of drive.

Langtang valley also known as the valley of glaciers offers an opportunity to explore the Tamang villages, climb small peaks and glaciers at a more comfortable altitude which is much easier to ascend than other trekking regions. Langtang Region consists of many trekking trails among which Langtang circuit trek passing through Ganja La is the most difficult one to trek.
