Where is Mount Everest?

Mount Everest the highest peak in the world is situated at the edge of Tibetan Plateau on the border between Nepal and China. Mt. Everest (8,848m.) is famous as Sagarmatha in Nepal and Chomolungma in Tibet. It is also called Third Pole.

The peak is part of the Great Himalayan Range which is elongated along Nepal, India and China.  The exact location coordinates of the Mount Everest is agreed upon as 27°59'17" N or 27 degrees, 59 minutes and 17 seconds North of Equator in case of Latitude and 86°55'31" E or 86 degree, 55 minutes and 31 seconds in case of Longitude.

Mount Everest lies in Nepal, a landlocked Himalayan country in South Asia. Nepal is surrounded by India in East, West and South side. The autonomous region of China, Tibet lies in the North of Nepal.

How to get there?

The best way to be on the Everest is flying from Kathmandu to Lukla and trekking up to the Base camp. You can get several domestic flights from Kathmandu to Lukla and Phaplu for Everest trekking. You can also use the classical mountaineering route used by first Everest climbers Tenzing Norgay and Sir Edmund Hillary via Jiri by overland.

Kathmandu is connected with many international flights. You can get direct flights from Tokyo, Osaka, Sole, Delhi, Singapore, Bangkok, Kula Lumpur, Qatar and many other cities of different countries.

By overland, you can enter Nepal from different entry points linked with India. Biratnagar, Kakarvitta, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Sunauli etc
