Upper Dolpo Trekking is the most remote, hidden and isolated trekking destination in far western Nepal situated between the Tibetan plateau and Dhaulagiri Himalayan Range. Upper Dolpo Region comprise of tranquil and natural beauty like mysterious monasteries, beautiful mountain, blue lakes and unique landscape.

Upper Dolpo Region also known as the home of herbal land is famous for unspoiled trans-Himalayan culture, Buddhist monuments and unique human society at high altitude. Observing different rain shadow landscapes with stunning mountain views and beautiful lakes are the primary feature of Upper Dolpo Region.

Upper Dolpo Trekking begins with walk through the remote villages of Nepal following the bank of Bheri River to our camp at Dunai in about 2 to 3 hours. The route follows Snowy Horizon at isolated village of Ringmo, crystal mountain at Shey Gompa, deep blue Shey Phoksundo lake and finally back to Juphal. The Upper Dolpo trekking route passes through many gigantic mountain ranges and the Shey Phoksundo Park. The Shey Phoksundo Park has an area of about 3500 sq. km where we can find the wild flowers, Himalayan blue sheep, snow leopards, and huge birds Himalayan called griffon.

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu, you are welcomed by hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to hotel. Our airport representative will explain briefly the program and preparation for trek.

Day 02: After breakfast, our tour guide will take to you for historical monuments sightseeing around Kathmandu valley such as Bhkatapur, pasupatinath, Boudhhanath, Kathmandu durbar square & Swaymbhunath (monkey temple) and prepare for the Upper Dolpa trekking because this day is required to make Upper Dolpa special trekking permit with original passport.

Day 03: Drive or Fly to Nepalgunj

Day 04: Fly to Juphal (Dopla) Camp in Dunai 4 and half hour walk.

Day 05: Dunai - Hankhe 4 and half hour walk.

Day 06: Hankhe - Reiji 4 and half hour walk.

Day 07: Reiji - Phoksundo Lake3600m. 5 hour walk.

Day 08: Phoksundo - Rest/explore around.

Day 09: Phoksundo Lake-Lake beach 5 hour walk.

Day 10: Lake Beach - Mandala Camp 4,570m. 5 hour walk.

Day 11: Mandala Camp - Kang La (5,240m) pass - Shey Gompa (4280m.) 5 hour.

Day 12: Shey Gompa - Saldang pass (5010m) - Namgung 4,380m. 5 hours walk.

Day 13: Namgung-Yanger Gompa (3890m) 5 hour.

Day 14: Yanger Gompa-Musi Gaon (4270m) 6 hour.

Day 15: Musi Gaon - Lnag La (5002m) - Sime Gaon (3950m ) 6 hour.

Day 16: Sime Gaon - Tinja (4150m) 6 hour.

Day 17: Tinja - Kheng (4550m) 6 hour.

Day 18: Kheng - Charka pass (5,036m) -Charka (4365m) 7 hour.

Day 19: Charka -Yak Kharka (4780m) 5 hour.

Day 20: Yak Kharka - Sangda pass (5490m) - Sangda phedi (5110m ) 6 & half hr.

Day 21: Sangda phedi - Sangda (3909m) 5 hour.

Day 22: Sangda - Phale Gaon (2900m) 5 and half hour

Day 23: Phale Gaon - Jomsom (2710m) 3 and half hour

Day 24: Fly from Jomsom - Pokhara.

Day 25: Pokhara to Kathmandu by bus or flight.

Trekking Group Size

Trekking Group is termed for the group of people with every individuals who go for a trip. A minimum of 2 people and maximum number of 12 is highly recommended as the size of the group. This planning ensures complete safety of the trekkers and convenience as well. However, with conditions applied, the group size can be customized as per the request of our clients.

[Note: Crew members are not counted within the trekking group size. This exclusive group of crews include one leader, assistant leaders and porters. One assistant leader for every 4 trekkers and one porter for every 2 trekkers]

Meals and Accommodation

During your stay in Kathmandu city, at the initial and the final stages of the trip, you will be residing at a 4 star hotel. The meal facilities in our Cost Includessection takes account of only breakfast facilities at this particular hotel. During the trek, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served including varieties of snacks, cold drinks, and hot chocolate especially during the mountain part.

As mentioned above, accommodation will be facilitated at a 4 star hotel in Kathmandu. Whereas, during the trek, you will be staying at standard teahouses, lodges and camps, on twin sharing basis, that is determined by the viability of accommodation facilities at overnight stops.

Qualification

As a general idea, health condition in a good state is highly recommended for any kind of tour. As, Upper Dolpo Trek is categorized under Moderate to Strenuous Level and Alpine, one should have the ability to walk for at least 5 – 6 hours a day, and 8 – 9 hours in some of the days. The highest altitude that we climb in this particular trek is 5,115m/16,781ft. Trekking in higher altitudes requires more physical effort. If you have any kind of medical condition, we urge you to receive a counsel from medical experts and formally inform us before applying for this trip.
