Mt Kailash lies to the north west of Nepal , across the Himalaya in a region. Synonymous it lies in a land of extrems.Harsh yet beautiful spectacular yet foreboding, rugged, brooding and sinister but also sublimely serene Kailash can be reached although not always easily from kathmandu. The road is rough but the scenery is some of the most spectacular on the planet.

The 15th day of the fourth month on the Tibetan calendar is said to be the birthday of Sakyamuni, and the day when he died and attained Nirvana. During this period, hundreds of thousands of people turn their prayer wheels on the street in Lhasa and sing and dance in the afternoon.
Saga Dawa Festival on June 12 marks the birth, transcendence and death of Sakyamuni. Pilgrims and secular folks will visit Lhasa , Mt. Kailash and other holy sites and the festival is observed by turning prayer wheels, rising flags, performing ritual dance having vegetarian food. Folk entertainers will perform Tibetan tradition; they will pay their homage to Buddha, observe a vegetarian rule, and refrain from killing domestic animals.
