Kanchenjunga Trek
Kanchenjunga trek is one of the unspoiled trekking trail in eastern part of Nepal opened only in 1988 for trekkers. Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m) is the world’s third highest mountain offers infinite variety of landscapes, cultures and panoramic views of Himalayas including the Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, & Kanchenjunga, four of the worlds five highest mountains make the trek rewarding.
Mount Kanchenjunga lies on the border of Nepal and Sikkim. Musk deer, and blue sheep are mostly found here and also the abominable snow man YETI is believed exist here. Kanchenjunga is translated along the lines of "Five Treasures of the Snow" A journey to Kanchenjunga trekking area is a special treat- starting from the tropical lowlands through great rhododendron forests and lovely villages of east Nepal up to the glacier and overwhelming views.
Kanchenjunga Conservation Area spread in an area of 2,035 square Kilometers and KCAP area has a rich diversity of wildlife including snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer red panda and others. Impheyan, pheasant, red-billed blue mangpie, shy drongo are the major birds found in Kanchenjunga Trekking route. Kanchenjunga trek to the south and north faces of the world's third highest mountain offers fantastic Himalayan views, including Everest. Kanchenjunga Trekking begins from Suketar Taplejung accessible by air or Basantapur accessible by road. Kanchenjunga Trekking Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu, you are welcomed by hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing around kathmandu valley such as Bhkatapur, pasupatinath, Boudhhanath, kathmandu durbar square & Swaymbhunath(monkey temple) and prepare for the Kanchenjunga trekking because this day is required to make Kanchenjunga trekking permit with original passport.
Day 03: Kathmandu Fly to Suketar 1824m trek to Mitlung 1968m.
Day 04: Mitlung trek to Chhiruwa 1190m.
Day 05: Chhiruwa trek to Sekathum 1640m.
Day 06: Sekathum trek to Amjilessa 2490m.
Day 07: Amjilessa trek to Gyapla/Kypra 2730m.
Day 08: Gyapla/Kypra trek to Gunsa village 3430m.
Day 09: Acclimatization or rest day in Gunsa village. During this day you can hike up to the selele pass base camp.
Day 10: Gunsa trek to Kambachen 4040m.
Day 11: Kambachen trek to Lhonak 4790m.
Day 12: Lhonak trek to Pang pema (Kanchenjunga northern Base Camp) 5140m.
Day 13: Pang pema base camp trek to Lhonak 4790m.
Day 14: Lhonak trek to Gunsa 3430m.
Day 15: Gunsa trek to Sinion/ selele Phedi 3546m.
Day 16: Sinion /selele phedi via Selele pass 4854m trek to Tseram 3870m.
Day 17: Tseram trek to Kanchenjunga Oktang Base camp back to Ramche 4620m
Day 18: Ramche trek to Torontan 3256m.
Day 19: Torontan Trek to Amje Khola 2340m.
Day 20: Amje Khola Trek to Mamanke 1810m.
Day 21: Mamanke trek to Kande Bhanjang 2134m.
Day 22: Kande Bhanjang trek Lali Kharka 2213m.
Day 23: Lali Kharka trek to Suketar /Taplejung 1824m.
Day 24: Suketar by flight back to Kathmandu.
